The Journey of a Thousand Miles Begins with a Single Blog Post

In the last month of my life; I have finished my third year of college at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities studying Architecture; I have been accepted into a DIS study abroad program in Copenhagen, Denmark for next fall, and I have found out that I will no longer be able to graduate early. Lots of new exciting and wonderful things are happening, mixed with some quite frustrating things, a breakup that has been extended out for a longer duration than I was anticipating, a friend who is no longer with us, and some problems at home between family members. But what is positive without negative? Light without dark? Happy without sad? It seems as though our most profound realizations come in some of the darkest and most difficult times in our lives. Rumi puts it marvelously...

These pains you feel are messengers.

Listen to them.

-Rumi

So today, I listen. I embrace the positivity in my life (my friends, my family, my health, my opportunities), and I turn towards the darkness and patiently listen to what it has to say, to what it has to teach me.

Not all these blog posts will be written to the "depth" of this one, but there will certainly be variation day to day. I anticipate that once I am in Denmark the blog posts will be quite happy and inspirational. My thought is that each post will contain either a picture, a song that resonates with me, perhaps a quote, honestly whatever it is that I feel like. No day is the same, no moment is repeated, therefore no blog post will be the same either. Hopefully you can bear with me as I refine this process and refine/learn how to do this blog thing!

Peace and Love turtle doves.
