Get on your bikes and ride!

It should be noted right away that the title of this blog is referencing Queen's Fat Bottomed Girls, hopefully you got that reference, and if not, I guess we will just move on.
This past Wednesday we took a bike tour around Copenhagen! We left from Gammeltorv (a plaza located very closely to DIS) and headed South.
It was quite the time, each of us 20 students on bikes were working our way through the streets of Copenhagen during rush hour at about 830. Mind you rush hour in Copenhagen is a little different than say, Minneapolis. BIKES, BIKES, BIKES! It is unbelievable, the number of bikes in this city between the hours of 8 and 9 am. I will have to take a video sometime in the near future, it's nuts! Keep your eye out for that blog post ;)
At any rate, we explored places like the new bike bridge called "the snake", the path is orange and it beautifully weaves through a predominantly business sector of Vestebro.
We learned a lot about the redevelopment of the once great fishing harbor where they would send ships to Greenland and Iceland back in the day. It is interesting because the community members were very heavily involved in the conversion of the harbor into a very nice public harbor front space. There's a playground, a coffeeshop, and harbor baths everywhere! (Definitely something you need to try when you are here!)
There is much to see in this city, and without a doubt the best way to see things is on bicycle. So get together with a group of friends and just bike around one weekend. Be not afraid! Once you simply do it, it is quite easy, enjoyable and environmentally friendly! Good habits are important after all!
Peace and love turtle doves!
